Running lots of trucks and bakkies means buying megalitres of diesel. That was the problem facing the Gauteng businessman—winner of the Sage Pastel/702 Small Business Award for 2013 and 2017 Top 20 Small Business & Entrepreneurship Award finalist of the National Small Business Chamber (NSBC)—who founded ValueApp, the holding company for PitStops.
He saw the diesel price wasn’t regulated, meaning some fuel outlets offered better prices than others. But where were they? How could users keep track of prices at different locations?
And so the vision of the PitStops mobile app was born.
Conceptualization, design, building and testing took two years. Several versions crashed, some app developers said it couldn’t be done, others complained it was too much work, but we persevered and here it is: Version 1.
Yes, there are great plans for further development. But meanwhile download the app, use it, take charge of it, and look forward to even better updates on their way.
